Dr. Kang Ting’s Long-Term Study on Distraction Osteogenesis Accepted by AJODO
We extend our warm congratulations to Dr. Kang Ting, Executive Director of IOF and Co-chair of the IOF Science Committee, and his team on their manuscript’s acceptance by the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. IOF is honored to support the progress and publication of this meaningful research. This story originates from a partnership between Dr. Ting’s team and Caltech, which sparked the first investigations into distraction osteogenesis for hemifacial microsomia. Despite its clinical popularity, long‑term stability data have remained scarce. This newly accepted landmark paper is more than just a research study—it’s a clinical case series with real-world implications, based on 12 years of patient follow-up. The findings provide clinicians with updated stability data and evidence-supported guidance, exemplifying the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and its role in transforming novel techniques into reliable standards of care. At IOF, we believe that supporting research means championing its journey from bench to bedside. This publication is a powerful reflection of that belief.
